Indiana Tech\u2019s Honors and Communication programs, in partnership with community organizations Fort Wayne for Refugees and the Lighthouse Peace Initiative, will host a free community screening and panel discussion of From the Front Line, a series of three short films produced by young people living in the Syrian refugee camp in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon.<\/p>\n
The free event is open to the public and will take place Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. in Indiana Tech\u2019s Multi-Flex Theater, located in the Snyder Academic Center.<\/p>\n
Following the film screening, there will be a panel discussion moderated by Tom Powell, co-anchor of Fort Wayne\u2019s NBC evening news. Panelists will include Caleb Jehl and Dr. Chrinna Balasingham, who recently returned from the Bekaa Valley camp, where Caleb taught a course on entrepreneurship. Also serving on the panel will be Dr. Carl Jylland-Halverson, professor of psychology at the University of Saint Francis; Sam Jarjour, a Fort Wayne attorney who is an advocate for refugees and has visited the camp; and refugee advocate Alia Natafgi Kara of Fort Wayne. A reception with light refreshments will follow the screening and panel discussion.<\/p>\n
