\u201cLingering Spirit: Photographs of a Changing Indiana by John Bower\u201d is now on display in Indiana Tech’s Franco D\u2019Agostino Art Gallery. This exhibit will be on display through May 31.<\/p>\n
In “Lingering Spirit,” John Bower\u2019s photography captures the soul of Indiana\u2019s forgotten past. As a photographer, Bower is motivated by the excitement in rediscovering what has been ignored or cast aside. To him, the abandoned houses and rusting automobiles populating the state\u2019s countryside display not only Indiana\u2019s unique heritage, but still retain the energy of their former owners. By employing the inherent drama of black and white photography, Bower is able to capture the essence of his subjects. His main goal is to preserve the richness that surrounds Hoosiers, yet often goes unnoticed.<\/p>\n
Bower lives in Bloomington with his wife (and artist), Lynn. Together, they founded Studio Indiana to create books of photography that capture Indiana’s fascinating, yet rapidly disappearing, cultural heritage. Learn more about their work at studioindiana.com.<\/p>\n
The D’Agostino Art Gallery is open seven days a week: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Sunday from 3-9 p.m. It is located on the lower level of Indiana Tech\u2019s Snyder Academic Center. The collection is part of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art\u2019s traveling exhibition.<\/p>\n
The D’Agostino Art Gallery was made possible by a donation from Franco D\u2019Agostino, a 1962 civil engineering graduate of Indiana Tech.
